My Hair / My Dream Hair - Lilac

Okay! So my natural hair color is anywhere from strawberry blonde to a toasty brown. I have the straightest possible hair you could have. My mum calls it the 70's do - past your elbow and straight. I loved it, it was great! But then I wanted change.. I first died my hair in first year (12 years old - seems so young!). I got a Berry red color run through my hair without any bleach and got it trimmed to just above my elbows. I really liked the color but it just wasn't me. I let my hair alone after that and let the color wash out. It took about 5 - 6 months. During the summer holidays i did the worst thing ever... cut my hair. But it wasn't a question, I had to because I have super fair hair and i needed to thicken it. I also wanted short hair because "if you have short hair, you want long hair and if you have long hair, you want short." - viscous cycle!! So I spent the summer growing back my now just under shoulder length hair. During that same summer, I did something even worse - never do it! I bought a home bleaching set with two hair dyes by crazy color. (They are a really good brand but I just didn't bleach my hair enough!) Candy Floss pink and Bubblegum blue - I love pastels. Anyway, I was really afraid, so I somewhat intelligently dyed only 2 sections from the under layer of my hair, one blue and one pink. The blue came out pretty vibrant and the pink came out a peach. Not what I wanted -_-  By the time 2nd year came, the pink had gone to blond but the blue was that murky composition between green and blonde... I did nothing to my hair through out all of second year except bring it back to its natural state and health :) Now in third year, my hair looks as if i did nothing to it! Although, during the summer my hair was really dry (also because i have naturally dry skin etc) but my hairdresser/ mum's friend recommended an amazing method which i still use now. Before your shower, soak your dry hair with conditioner. Leave in for 30 minutes, then when you get into the shower you can rinse it out. Put in you shampoo, rinse, then put in your usual conditioner and rinse. I do this twice/ once a week depending. My hair is now perfect, soft and shiny. The last thing I did to my hair was in September. I wanted blonde highlights but the same hairdresser told me something crucial. Up until the age of around 22 we still have baby hairs. If we bleach these hairs it is not good. (no offence to anyone who has :3 ) It determines what our adult hairs will be like. Instead I got caramel strips run through my hair and I really like it. I will be starting to go to her once every 3 months to get caramel strips, a trim or both - every second month I get the caramel strips. I'm also in the process of getting my long hair back! In retrospect, the red hair didn't do much damage, the blue and pink strips did but thankfully they were only minor. My main advice would be to go and talk/consult with your local hairdresser about your hair before you do anything to it and DO NOT DO WHAT I DID WITH THE DO IT YOURSELF KIT!!! (at least not bleaching anyway) My dream hairstyle at the moment would be to have lilac hair when my baby hairs grow out and i get my adult hairs. (21/22 years old) Up until then, i'll be keeping my hair al natural. I hope that this long fudging blog was worth the reading and don't forget to comment your dream hairstyle below. Until next time, bye! -Lara x
